Foreign media reported that the Georgia general election, which was held in a pro-Western vs. pro-Russia confrontation, resulted in extremely mixed exit polls.

Reuters and other sources said exit polls for pro-government local TV networks after the polls closed on Wednesday local time predicted the ruling party's "Georgia Dream" would win 56 percent of the vote.

On the other hand, the broadcast exit poll, which is classified as opposition-oriented, predicted that the coalition of the four opposition parties would win 83 seats, well over half of the total 150 seats.

With the results of exit polls mixed, both ruling and opposition parties are insisting on winning the general election.

Major foreign media said they will have to wait to see the results of the vote to see which side will win the majority of seats.

In Georgia's general election, pro-Western opposition forces are seeking a regime change against the ruling party, which is leaning sharply toward a pro-Russia line.
