On the 14th of next month, the Incheon District Court will hold the first trial of Rep. Heo Jong-sik of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was indicted on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.

In February, ahead of the April 10 general election, Heo was indicted on charges of publishing false information about the so-called "money envelope allegations at the Democratic National Convention" through an Internet blog.

Lawmaker Huh posted on his blog that he had never seen a money envelope and that no one had given him a money envelope, adding that the prosecution had failed to provide evidence.

In August, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Heo to three months in prison and one year of probation after convicting him of violating the party law in connection with the alleged money envelope.
