In the future, elementary and secondary school teachers and university professors will also be able to unionize with paid union predecessors.

The Economic, Social and Labor Committee held a general meeting of the Teachers' Working Hours Exemption Review Committee yesterday (28th) and unanimously voted on the limit of teachers' working hours exemption (time off).

The limit of exemption from working hours is less than 99 people to a maximum of 800 hours, and more than 30,000 people to a maximum of 25,000 hours, divided into nine sections depending on the size of the union.

In addition, the number of people who can use it annually cannot exceed twice the number of people who can use it full-time, but only up to two members under 99 members and up to three members from 100 to 999.

In addition, in the case of elementary and secondary teachers, they were encouraged to use the exemption hours on a thousand-hour basis in consideration of academic schedules, and two years after the exemption limit was announced, a fact-finding survey was conducted to prepare for re-deliberation.

Kwon Ki-seop, chairman of the Economic, Social and Labor Council, said the decision to exempt teachers from working hours is meaningful in that the government and public interest committee members have reached a complete agreement based on understanding the field and mutual trust.
