The Coast Guard caught an illegal shrimp fishing boat that had been fishing with the lights off to avoid crackdown after an hour and a half chase.

Yeosu Maritime Police arrested a 13-ton fish farm management ship carrying a "shrimp square frame" for illegally manufacturing shrimp in the sea near Gwangdo, Yeosu, at around 10 p.m. on the 23rd.

The shrimp square net is a 7.2m wide and 4.8m long fishing gear designed to catch shrimp living in the top layer of the sea and below it, and is not permitted under the Fisheries Resource Management Act.

The Coast Guard explained that illegal fishing boats pose a high risk of safety accidents, such as fishing by turning off fishing boat location transmission devices and navigation lights to avoid crackdowns and colliding with other ships.
