Even today, the second anniversary of the Itaewon disaster, the family is asking who should be held accountable.

Although the special investigation committee plans to investigate everything the bereaved families are curious about, there are voices pointing out the limitations.

I make sandwiches with the heart I used to make for my children when I was young.

It's been a long time since I smile as I face the bright expression of my son and daughter's age.

[Kim Yong-gun's mother, the victim of the Itaewon disaster: I wanted to treat young people like a mother.. I feel proud and happy to see it like this, thinking it's my son's food.]

[Choi Hangyul and Hwang Jiyoon / College student: Thank you for remembering me. I also want to say thank you for making me a delicious sandwich and making me a place to remember.]

Two years ago today, I was with such a son and daughter, but in the meantime, my mom and dad's life has changed completely.

I chased him to the National Assembly, I marched in the streets, and I became a fighter.

However, the process of revealing the truth seems to take longer than expected.

A special committee was formed in the National Assembly to investigate the Itaewon disaster, but it was crippled amid political strife.

Although the first trial has ended in two years, the family cannot accept the acquittal of Park Hee-young, the head of Yongsan-gu District Office, and Kim Kwang-ho, the former head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

[Lee Jung-min / Chairperson of the Itaewon Victims' Council: What does the head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency do? What is he sitting there to do? If you've killed so many human lives and you're not guilty, who on earth should 159 children be held accountable?]

The bereaved family now says the Special Investigation Committee asks for answers that the National Assembly and the courts have not given.

He says there are still many things that have not been revealed, including whether higher-level agencies such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Public Administration are responsible, whether the police chief exercised his command properly, and the background of the day's career deployment and the process of handing over the victims to their families.

[Song Ki-chun / Chairman of the Itaewon Special Investigation Committee: Legally innocent does not mean that they are not responsible at all, and (the Special Investigation Committee) will not only take criminal responsibility into account, but will investigate the facts that reveal a wide variety of responsibility issues....]

However, while there are voices pointing out the limitations of the special investigation committee, such as the lack of authority to investigate ex officio, the family is still asking "who should be held responsible?" at the meeting two years ago.
