The Ministry of Science and ICT announced yesterday (27th) that it held the opening ceremony of the "National AI Research Base" at the Seoul AI Hub in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, attended by more than 100 officials from academia, research, and industry.
The national AI research hub will be established in Seoul's AI hub, which plans to expand to 2,300 pyeong by next year, and will grow global AI leaders and play a central role in the industry-academic research ecosystem related to artificial intelligence.
KAIST, Korea University, Yonsei University, and POSTECH consortium were selected as organizations responsible for the establishment and operation of research bases, and NAVER Cloud, POSCO Holdings, and LG Electronics will participate as partners.
The Ministry of Science and ICT said that through the national AI research base, overseas researchers such as the United States and France will reside in Korea for a certain period of time to conduct challenging AI research and establish a global network such as holding regular international seminars.
