A former union official at a large corporation in Ulsan was arrested on charges of taking hundreds of millions of won from acquaintances using his child's employment as bait.

The Ulsan National Police Agency's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit said today (30th) that it has detained a 60-year-old man, a former union official at a large company.

Earlier, A is accused of stealing 500 million won from three acquaintances from March 2017 to January this year by tricking them into hiring their children full-time at his company.

Mr. A emphasized to his acquaintances that he had served as a representative of the company's union several times, deceiving them, "I know union executives and personnel department employees well, so I can get my child a full-time job if I want."

All the money stolen by the three victims was wasted on stock investments.

The police understand that none of those who asked A to hire have led to actual employment.

A's crime was discovered while investigating the employment fraud case of another former union official in his 50s.

B was found to have received 2.3 billion won from about 30 people in a similar way to A.

When the police investigation began, B made an extreme choice in March this year. Accordingly, B's case was closed without the right to prosecute.
