Yesterday afternoon's training in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, was conducted under the assumption that a forest fire, which is believed to be a true story of graveyard visitors, spread to Dodong Seowon, a national heritage site, a private house, and a telecommunications tower due to strong winds in dry weather.
The Korea Forest Service mobilized 18 forest fire helicopters, 60 forest fire trucks, 500 fire extinguishers, and high-tech equipment and personnel such as thermal imaging drones to conduct actual training.
In addition, forest fire detection and propagation using artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication equipment (ICT) have been added to major training.
More than 500 people participated in the training, including forest service personnel, soldiers, firefighters, police officers, and forest fire officials from 17 cities and provinces across the country, and officials from Argentina, Indonesia, and Mongolia, who have frequently experienced forest fires due to recent climate change, drew great attention.
The Korea Forest Service said it will work more systematically to protect safety and important facilities by using high-tech equipment, as Korea's forest fire extinguishing system is recognized overseas as well.
[Clin Sang-seop / Director of Forest Service: Joint training will be conducted to ensure that the Korea Forest Service and related agencies can establish a safe and prompt cooperation system from the beginning of the forest fire until it spreads and responds. We will establish an efficient evolutionary system through joint training to safely protect the lives and property of the people from forest fires.]
