The People's Power has repeatedly urged the government to deal with the revision of the Espionage Act, which extends the scope of espionage from "enemy" to "foreign" to punish espionage in North Korea as well as other countries.

At a press conference on the 100th day of his inauguration, Han Dong-hoon said, "The revision of the spy law shows what philosophy and position our country has in the world order," adding, "There is no reason not to do it."

He then added that as some members of the Democratic Party of Korea agree, they will achieve results through dialogue and compromise in the ruling and opposition party's common pledge consultative body.

Spokesperson Ho Jun-seok also stressed in his comments that the current spy crime applies only when leaking state secrets to "enemies" and cannot be punished if confidential information is transferred to industrial spies in third countries.
