The prosecution asked the court to sentence former lawmaker Park to five years in prison at the Seoul Southern District Court today (30th).
The prosecution said former lawmaker Park committed crimes against victims in a vulnerable position and asked them to consider the fact that the defamation caused secondary damage.
On the other hand, former lawmaker Park pleaded not guilty in his final statement, saying that he had never committed the forced sexual harassment claimed by the victim.
After hearing both sides' positions, the court decided to hold a sentencing hearing on December 18th.
Rep. Park was put on trial in December 2021 on charges of forcibly harassing his aide and causing him to suffer injuries such as post-traumatic stress disorder.
He is also accused of abusing his authority to seek dismissal when the victim reported sexual violence to the Democratic Party of Korea and defaming him by claiming that "the victim demanded money."
