The Supreme Court today (31st) confirmed the original ruling that sentenced former independent lawmaker Yoon Kwan-seok, who is accused of violating the party law, to two years in prison.
Before the Democratic National Convention in May 2021, Yoon was put on trial for accepting 60 million won from primary camp officials with the aim of providing Democratic lawmakers for the election of former leader Song Young-gil.
After that, he was sentenced to two years in prison in the first and second trials.
In this regard, former lawmaker Yoon, former lawmakers Lee Sung-man and Lim Jong-sung, and Rep. Heo Jong-sik of the Democratic Party of Korea were indicted on charges of accepting envelopes of money and were all sentenced to probation of imprisonment in the first trial.
Prosecutors are continuing to investigate seven former and current Democratic Party lawmakers who are suspected of receiving money envelopes.
