The People's Power urged Korea to quickly revise the law to expand the scope of espionage under the criminal law from enemies to foreign countries, citing the recent arrest of a Korean citizen in China on espionage charges.

Representative Han Dong-hoon said at the Supreme Council that the current law cannot punish the Chinese people for leaking semiconductor technology from South Korea, and called on the Democratic Party of Korea to quickly deal with the amendment.

He added that even if the law is revised, there is no place to investigate properly, and that the National Intelligence Service's anti-aircraft investigation rights, which were abolished when the Democratic Party of Korea took power, should be revived.

Kim Sang-hoon, chairman of the policy committee, also said in an interview with KBS radio, "We are currently limiting our main enemy to North Korea, but I think it is time for the National Assembly to pass a bill to expand the scope of spies to punish foreign industrial spies."
