Lee Hak-soo, mayor of Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, said, "We will serve citizens in a lower position and work harder to make corrections fair and transparent with the eyes of citizens."

Mayor Lee said at a press conference held after the results of the trial and bowed his head, saying, "Thanks to the citizens who have been sick and encouraged together for a year and 11 months since the indictment, we were able to achieve good results in the appeal and thank the court for leading the uninterrupted correction with a wise judgment."

Mayor Lee said, "Although not guilty has yet been confirmed, there will be no particular issue to contend with," adding, "We will do our best to explain it well in the high court so that we can be found not guilty."

The second part of the Supreme Court today reversed the original ruling that fined Mayor Lee 10 million won for violating the Public Official Election Act and sent the case back to the Gwangju High Court's Jeonju court.
