The Korea Organ Tissue Donation Institute said on the 5th of last month that Lee Geun-sun (38) donated her heart, lungs, liver, left and right kidneys and eyes to the brain-dead organ donation at Samsung Medical Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Earlier, Lee underwent surgery to remove a pituitary tumor in 2014.
Lee, who was declared completely cured in April this year, suddenly collapsed at home on the 1st of last month and was taken to the emergency room, but fell into a brain death state.
All of Lee's family members registered their wishes to donate to the donor in 2006 and promised to share life, and the family decided to carry it out.
Lee's husband, Kim Hee-soo, and other bereaved families said, "We agreed to donate in hopes that the deceased would do good things and continue life in other people's bodies rather than be a handful of ashes."
Her husband, Kim, said, "What if my mother goes to heaven?" and answered her crying daughter, "My mother went to heaven, but she did a great job of saving other people's lives."
Kim told his wife, "I was so happy with all the time we spent together," adding, "Please wait until I go to meet you again. Until then, I will happily get along with the children," he said.
