European Green Party "Resign and Support Harris" for U.S. Green Party Candidate

The pan-European Green Party has stepped down for its "1% approval rating" U.S. Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein and publicly urged her to support Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris.

"Harris is the only candidate who can stop Donald Trump and his anti-democratic authoritarian policies," the European Green Party said in a statement posted on its website.

"Europe wants Harris to become a reliable partner as U.S. President, to take necessary steps in the climate crisis, and to create a just and sustainable peace in the Middle East," he said.

As for former President Trump, he claimed, "It will undermine democracy, just like other hard-line conservative politicians around the world, such as Putin of Russia, Orban of Hungary, and Bolsonaro of Brazil."

He also pointed out that the U.S. Green Party is no longer part of a global green political organization and that "serious policy differences stemming from major issues, including the relationship between parties with authoritarian leaders and the U.S. Green Party, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine."

Launched in 2004, the European Green Party is a pan-European party organization that includes green political and progressive political parties in more than 30 countries, including EU member states.
