In Incheon today (2nd), the weekend, a "Cure Culture Festival" was held to promote various gender identities.

Nearby, there was also a protest by Christian groups, but there was no conflict.

Reporter Lee Hyun-jung went to the scene.

Rainbow flags fluttered in the blue sky, and people gathered on the roadway.

The Queer Culture Festival was held in downtown Incheon to reveal various gender identities to the world.

[Lee Sang-woo / Queer Culture Festival Organizing Committee: We are continuing the festival again this year. Queer is proudly rooted and living in this land.

At the booth of the venue, colorful souvenirs caught the eye, and notes were also posted hoping for a world that recognized differences.

[Lee In-ja / Incheon Sipjeong-dong: I came out here with the hope that I would be proud of myself. You are always beautiful in and of itself!]

As the street march in the city began, the festive atmosphere was heightened.

The festival participants walked on the roadway to upbeat music, voicing not to discriminate against LGBTQ people.

However, there were also stinging eyes.

Just 500 meters from the festival site, members of Christian groups rallied against it.

[Kim Min-kyo / Chairman of Incheon Christian Conservative Church: It provides education that does not distinguish between men and women. They don't teach normal sex already.]

As the event was virtually suspended due to physical clashes during the first queer cultural festival in Incheon in 2018, police deployed more than 1,700 people in preparation for the clash between the two sides, but the friction that was feared was not caused.
