The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it will conduct literacy and numeracy tests on 94,000 students at 525 schools for four days from today.
The subjects of the examination are 4th grade in elementary school, 6th grade in elementary school, 2nd grade in middle school, and 1st grade in high school, and 35.4% of all students in that grade in Seoul take the examination.
There are four examination courses, 40 minutes for elementary school, 45 minutes for middle school, and 50 minutes for high school.
The test was introduced last year to provide customized support for basic academic ability, and this year, the number of students subject to the test has more than doubled from last year.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education plans to train experts, open basic literacy and numeracy programs for after-school schools, and guarantee basic academic ability programs for students eligible for learning support through the results of diagnostic tests.
