Mr. A, who was raising his daughter in kindergarten alone, borrowed hundreds of thousands of won from an illegal loan company. As the excessive interest rate was applied, Mr. A's debt snowballed over time. Later, a group of loan companies told A's acquaintances, "A sells himself in Miari. I borrowed money and took a dive," he said, starting to send text messages.
They also sent text messages to a kindergarten teacher where A's daughter attends, and even a group of loan companies went to the kindergarten where her daughter attended and threatened her.
Finally, on September 22, A, who couldn't bear it, killed himself at a pension in Jeolla-do.
As the story became known, the Seoul Metropolitan Government searched for whereabouts to protect the children of the victims, while preparing measures to eradicate illegal loan business damage.
First of all, we will launch an investigation into the current status of illegal loan business damage for prostitution workers. Currently, there are two remaining prostitution gathering sites in Seoul, with an estimated 420 workers.
In particular, it will introduce a prostitution and illegal loan business advertisement detection system using AI technology from next year, and block illegal loan advertisement phone numbers in real time with the 'counter-gun killer system'. The target of legal aid will also be extended to the debtor's family and acquaintances.
In addition, it plans to strengthen evidence collection and investigation requests for illegal collection by loan companies, and strengthen administrative measures such as imposing fines and suspending business through autonomous districts.
