The organizing committee of the 2027 Summer World University Games in Chungcheong Province unveiled the mascots "Heungyi" and "Nayu" ahead of the opening of the competition.
'Heungyi' was created by reflecting a friendly image of a tiger related to the Chungcheong region's name, and features a blue color that symbolizes youth.
'Nayu' is a wise and auspicious bird, a magpie that delivers good news and means that we should all enjoy the competition together.
Fencing athlete Oh Sang-wook, archery athlete Kim Woo-jin, and table tennis athlete Shin Yoo-bin, who played a great role in the Paris Olympics, were appointed as promotional ambassadors.
The International University Sports Federation's due diligence team began a two-week inspection to check compliance with stadium regulations.
The Chungcheong World U Competition will be held in Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and North Korea for 12 days from August 1st, 2027, and 15,000 people from 150 countries around the world will compete in 18 sports.
