At a press conference today (4th), Minister Kim said, "I don't think it's a job for the government to force the people to do a uniform method that the people cannot keep at once."
He explained that the government is not saying that it will take care of the implementation of the disposable cup deposit system, but that it will support it whether it is a deposit system or other ways if local governments, like Jeju Island, are willing to accept it.
Likewise, he said that he would not forcibly push for four of the planned climate response dams, which are highly opposed by residents, and that it remains a future state responsibility, expressing his intention to continue talking to gain consensus among residents as much as necessary.
