The price of cabbage and radish was 50% higher last month compared to October last year.

According to the Statistics Korea's October consumer price survey, the agricultural and livestock products that have risen in price compared to October last year are cabbage, radish, lettuce, tomato, and pork.

In particular, cabbage and radish recorded a price increase of more than 50% from a year ago.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said prices rose due to sluggish cabbage and radish growth due to the summer heat wave, but since late October, weather conditions have improved and shipments have increased and turned downward.

He then predicted that prices will be at an average level from the middle of this month when the full-fledged kimchi-making season begins.

The average retail price of one cabbage fell from 8,947 won at the beginning of last month to 4,810 won as of yesterday (4th).The retail price of

mu was 3,731 won at the beginning of last month to 3,19 won yesterday.

From the day after tomorrow (7th) to the 4th of next month, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will support discounts on kimchi ingredients such as cabbage, radish, and red pepper powder at 18,300 places nationwide, including large supermarkets and traditional markets, and will also promote pork discounts for boiled pork.
