Residents of Tulasendrapuram village in Tamil Nadu, 350 km south of Chennai in southern India, held a special prayer meeting at a Hindu temple on the morning of the U.S. presidential election (May 5).
As a Hindu cleric led the prayer with fire amid a crowd of reporters, he said that the god he believed in was a very powerful god and that if he prayed well, he would let Harris win.
Vice President Harris has never visited the town and has no relatives left, but banners and signs with Harris' face are installed throughout the town.
Villagers prayed for Harris' victory, who also ran for vice president during the 2020 U.S. presidential election, and held a grand celebration with firecrackers when he was actually elected.
