U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood told a news conference in front of the U.N. Security Council meeting in New York with representatives from participating countries in the joint statement, saying, "This is a clear violation of multiple Security Council resolutions, along with more than 100 ballistic missile launches from 2022 to date."
"In response to North Korea's provocations, the United States has submitted a statement to the Security Council summarizing the details of the launch and expressing the council's position that it has violated Security Council resolutions," the 13 countries said in a statement.
"But the two members refused to join in calling for compliance with the Security Council's united Security Council's binding measures," it noted.
Earlier, Deputy Ambassador Wood criticized at a Security Council meeting the day before, saying, "Russia and China are shamelessly protecting North Korea from any punishment or criticism even though they are permanent members of the Security Council."
In addition to Korea, the U.S. and Japan, Denmark, Ecuador, France, the U.K., Greece, and Malta participated in the joint statement.
