Namyangju Bukbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province investigated an incumbent police officer in his 40s on charges of hitting two vehicles near the Hojeon Tunnel in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, at around 7:10 p.m. yesterday (5th) and running away from the police's sobriety test.
It was found that A ran away while the police officer who was dispatched after receiving a report went to get a measuring instrument to check whether he was drunk.
A voluntarily attended Namyangju Bukbu Police Station at around 8 a.m. today (6th), more than 12 hours after the accident, and was investigated that no alcohol was detected.
Police say A is a police officer of the Gyeonggi Bukbu Police Agency's highway patrol unit, and they are considering continuing the investigation at other police stations as they have previously worked at Namyangju Bukbu Police Station.
