U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has named Suzy Wiles, co-chairman of the election campaign committee, as the White House chief of staff for the second term in office.

It is the first time in U.S. history that a woman will become White House chief of staff.

Former President Trump announced in a statement that he was nominating Wiles, who led the election victory, as his chief of staff, saying, "Suzy is a strong, smart, innovative and respected figure," and stressed that he will "continue to work to make America great again."

Wiles, a veteran political consultant with more than four decades of experience, was involved in running former President Trump's first presidential campaign in 2016, contributing to his presidential victory and is considered Trump's "Kingmaker" this time leading to his presidential victory again.

"We call her the 'Ice Lady,'" Trump said of Wiles after calling her to the center of the podium with co-president Chris Lasivita during his presidential victory speech on the 6th. "Soozy likes to be behind, but she's not the one to be behind."

CNN reported that Wiles offered to Trump that he would control who could meet the president in his office as a condition for him to serve as chief of staff.

This is interpreted as a willingness to unify the "door-door power" of former President Trump, surrounded by family and informal staff.

Wiles also played a role in controlling those on Trump's plane during the election.
