Prosecutors have decided to cancel the arrest of homeless people who broke into the Seoul National University building several times and stole money and goods, and help them return to society.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said today (8th) that it has suspended prosecution of homeless man A in his 60s, who is suspected of theft, on the condition that he complete employment education.

As a result of the investigation, it was found that A had been homeless for many years in Gwanaksan Mountain with a feeling of desperation when he was seriously injured in a car accident after a business failure.

In the process, A was considered dead for 12 years due to the court's declaration of disappearance, and it was found that he committed a theft crime at Seoul National University because he could not overcome hunger.

Accordingly, the prosecution canceled the declaration of A's disappearance and decided to provide rehabilitation protection programs such as employment support in connection with the Korea Legal Protection Welfare Corporation.

A prosecution official said that they will continue to take measures at the public's level by looking at the specific circumstances of the suspect's crime.
