Lawyer Lee Jong-geun, husband of Rep. Park Eun-jung of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, will be investigated by the prosecution over how he defended a person involved in a criminal case after retirement.

The Legal Ethics Council reportedly asked the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office today (8th) to investigate lawyer Lee on charges of violating the Lawyers Act.

Earlier, the Legal Ethics Council reportedly voted to request an investigation into four people, including lawyer Lee, after inspecting lawyers who were controversial for taking excessive cases last year.

The Legal Ethics Association reportedly judged that the process of defending one of the people who was reported and ordered when lawyer Lee served in the prosecution in the past after retirement was unclear.

In addition, lawyer Lee was indicted by the prosecution in April over allegations that he received 2.2 billion won for taking over the case even though he knew it was criminal proceeds of multi-level fraud worth 1 trillion won.
