Russian Vice Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told Interfax news agency on the 9th local time, "We are ready to listen to President-elect Trump's solution to the crisis over Ukraine. We take the ideas presented by each country very carefully and responsibly."
However, Ryabkov cautioned against optimistic prospects, saying, "The solution that Trump can offer will not be simple."
Ryabkov acknowledged that the two sides agreed on the need for dialogue, but he distanced himself from the observation that talks seeking strategic stability through arms control would resume in earnest.
Ryabkov also said the possibility of using nuclear weapons is open in the event of a serious crisis in relations with the West or a worsening situation in Ukraine.
