The body of one of the 12 missing people on the Venus ship that sank off Jeju Island was found last night (9th).

It has been identified as a Korean man in his 60s who was aboard the Venus.

The search for additional missing persons has been ongoing for three days.

There is a reporter on the scene. Reporter Kim Ki-soo!

A missing person was found last night (9th).

Are there any additional confirmed missing persons?

[Reporter]
Yes, one of the missing people was found for the first time around 9 o'clock last night.

However, since then, no further findings have been heard.

The Navy used a remote-controlled underwater robot, an R.O.V., to find missing people around the sunken hull.

At the time of discovery, it was confirmed that he was wearing a waterproof work suit.

The salvage work was carried out immediately, and the body was transferred to Jeju Port at around 2:15 a.m.

The man found was identified as a Korean sailor in his 60s who was aboard the Venus at the time.

Since then, the Coast Guard has continued its night search by firing flare to find the remaining 11 missing people, but no additional missing people have been found overnight.

The family is anxious as the discovery of missing people is delayed.

Listen directly to the missing family.

[Missing family] At first, I was calm. I didn't think he'd be dead. Since I've been on the boat for a long time. I was thinking like that, but when I got a missing report, I thought, "Oh, my" and my stomach turned upside down. I'm worried about how I'll live alone in the future. My younger brother relied on me a lot and helped me a lot.]

It's raining in the Jeju area today, and it seems that the search operation will be affected.

[Reporter]
Yes, it's raining and stopping in Jeju Island right now.

The Coast Guard explained that it is conducting a search in consideration of the weather conditions.

Since this afternoon, 50 ships and nine aircraft have been deployed to search the sea.

The private rescue company, which was originally scheduled to arrive late in the afternoon, was found to have arrived at the site at 12:20 p.m. today, earlier than expected.

However, due to poor weather conditions, the underwater search for divers has not been carried out so far.

The Navy's underwater search equipment, the R.O.V., was deployed once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

A short time later, at 4 p.m., the Navy and the Coast Guard are expected to hold an underwater search meeting to determine whether to deploy deep-sea submarines and a plan to remove nets.

However, weather conditions are expected to be a variable, with occasional rain around the area of the accident.

The Coast Guard is in a position to continue the search based on the weather and on-site conditions.

From tomorrow afternoon, the wind is expected to subside and the wave is expected to decrease.

The Coast Guard believes that this is the right time to search for divers.

So far, I'm Kim Ki-soo of YTN at Hallym Port in Jeju.
