President Yoon Suk Yeol will travel to South America for eight days and five nights to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Peru and the G20 summit in Brazil.
Kim Tae-hyo, the first deputy chief of the National Security Office, said in a briefing today that President Yoon will visit Lima, Peru, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from the 14th.
During the meeting, President Yoon is seeking a summit with Prime Minister Ishiba of Japan, and the summit is being coordinated with more countries, Deputy Minister Kim explained.
An official from the president's office said the Korea-Japan summit is very likely to happen, and the Korea-China summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping is also likely to happen.

He explained that if a meeting between U.S. President Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba takes place, a separate three-way meeting in the U.S. will not be needed.

The president's office said earlier that President Yoon's wife, Kim Gun-hee, will not accompany her on the trip.
