The Korea Foundation for the Disabled, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, held a "vision declaration ceremony" for new innovation and leap forward and set up a place to look back on the past 20 years with disabled and disabled organizations. Kim Ye-ji, Rep. Choi Bo-yoon, Rep. Seo Mi-hwa, Rep. Lee Myung-soo (former) and Lee Chae-pil (former) chairman of the Korea Foundation for the Disabled, attended to congratulate them.
The event also held an award ceremony for the "2024 Disability Awareness Improvement Contest" sponsored by YTN Radio, the Culture Daily, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Korea Foundation for the Disabled. The contest to improve awareness of the disabled has been held since 2015 to improve understanding, empathy, and awareness of the disabled and the disabled.
This year, 787 works were submitted in five categories, including essays, webtoons, videos, radio, and posters, from June 25 to August 16. Park Ho-beom's video "The Way to a Friend" was selected as the grand prize winner for the Minister of Health and Welfare, and a total of 43 teams, including 2 best teams, 15 best teams, and 25 best teams, won the prize.
Meanwhile, the foundation is carrying out public service projects for the disabled in seven areas, including health, education, culture, social environment, awareness improvement, emergency support, and policy research. So far, it has supported about 376,000 people with disabilities in cooperation with 1,072 organizations for the disabled, and the cumulative support fund is reported to amount to 35.3 billion won.
