The Korea Sports and Fairness Commission held a plenary session at the Olympic Hall in Bangi-dong, Seoul, and approved Lee Ki-heung's bid for a third consecutive term.
According to the association's articles of association, the Fair Trade Commission must pass the Fair Trade Commission's review from the third term, but the second term of the incumbent IOC member Lee is said to have been decided without much debate in favor of a majority of attendance.
Lee has yet to announce his candidacy, but he has qualified to run for the 42nd presidential election on January 14 next year.
The Office for Government Policy Coordination's public service inspection team previously requested an investigation into Chairman Lee on charges of fraudulent hiring, bribery, embezzlement and breach of trust, and although the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism suspended his duties under the law, Chairman Lee took legal action by applying for a temporary injunction against execution to the Seoul Administrative Court.
