President Yoon Suk Yeol will travel to South America for eight days and five nights to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Peru and the G20 summit in Brazil.

Kim Tae-hyo, the first deputy chief of the National Security Office, said in a briefing that President Yoon will visit Lima, Peru, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, starting tomorrow (14th).

During the meeting, President Yoon is seeking a summit with Prime Minister Ishiba of Japan, and the summit is being coordinated with more countries, Deputy Minister Kim explained.

An official from the president's office said the Korea-Japan summit is very likely to happen, and the Korea-China summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping is also likely to happen.

He explained that the Korea-U.S.-Japan summit is also being discussed with related countries, and that a separate three-way meeting in the U.S. would not be needed if a meeting between U.S. President Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba takes place.

On the possibility of a meeting with U.S. President-elect Trump on the occasion of this trip, he said, adding that he would keep in close communication with the president-elect, adding that he would let him know if there were any new changes as there are several variables.

The president's office said earlier that President Yoon's wife, Kim Gun-hee, will not accompany her on the trip.
