According to the October employment trend released by Statistics Korea, 28.847 million people were employed last month, up 83,000 from the same month a year ago.
This is the smallest increase in five months since the 80,000 in May.
The health and social welfare service industry increased by 97,000 and the education service industry increased by 84,000.
Wholesale and retail businesses, on the other hand, fell 148,000 people, the biggest drop in three years and three months.
The construction industry decreased by 93,000.
Wholesale and retail businesses have been employed for eight months and construction businesses for six months.
The manufacturing industry fell by 33,000, reducing the number of employed for four consecutive months.
