Ohtani to join the '50-50' for the first time, tries to be MVP of the two major leagues for the second time ever

Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who achieved 50 home runs and 50 steals in a season for the first time in U.S. professional baseball, has been nominated for the National League MVP.

The MLB Secretariat selected Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets and Ketel Marte of Arizona, including Ohtani, as National League MVP candidates.

Ohtani joined the "50-50 Club" for the first time in the Major League this season with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases, and had 130 RBIs and 197 hits.

If Ohtani, who was selected as the American League MVP in 2021 and last year as a member of the Los Angeles Angels, wins the MVP in the National League, he will leave a milestone of becoming the MVP of the two major leagues for the second time in history.
