Sergei Shoigu, secretary of Russia's National Security Council, met with Chen Wenqing, secretary of the Central Law Commission of the Communist Party of China, to strengthen cooperation in the security and judicial sectors, Russia's Tas news agency reported.

"Recently, Russia-China relations have reached unprecedented levels of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction," Shoigu said, co-chairing the ninth meeting of the China-Russia Law Enforcement Security Cooperation Mechanism with Chen on the 13th local time.

"In recent years, China's President Xi Jinping and Russia's President Putin have reached a number of important agreements on the development of bilateral relations and strategic interactions in a new era," Chen said.

"We are willing to exchange in-depth opinions on bilateral relations in areas such as law enforcement and security," he said. "We are ready to promote practical cooperation that can contribute to the peaceful development of the world as well as bilateral relations."

The day before, Shoigu, who visited China, co-chairs the 19th annual strategic security negotiations with Foreign Minister Wang Yi and emphasized joint action against the United States.
