U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has named Stephen Miller, a former senior White House aide who is a hardliner on illegal immigration, as his deputy chief of staff for White House policy.

Trump said in a statement that Miller is returning to the White House as the White House policy chief and homeland security adviser.

Miller is the architect of a pledge to expel 1 million illegal immigrants and is expected to lead the closure of the southern border and massive deportation of illegal immigrants after Trump takes office in January next year.

Trump also named Dan Scavino, a former senior aide at the party's presidential headquarters, and James Blair, a former director of political affairs at the Republican National Committee, and Taylor Budowich, a former head of a pro-Trump political fundraising group, as his chief of staff.

Blair will be in charge of legislation, political affairs and public affairs in the White House, while the default position will be in charge of public affairs and personnel affairs.

Trump said the four nominees were the best advisers to lead the presidential election victory and said he would continue to work hard to make America great again in their respective new roles in the future.
