The Guardian, a leading British daily newspaper, announced on the 13th local time that it will stop posting content on Elon Musk's social media platform X.

The Guardian, a progressive media outlet, said it operates more than 80 accounts and has 27 million followers on X, but decided not to use its official account because it believes the disadvantages of remaining on X outweigh the advantages.

The newspaper said it has been considering suspending official posting because "concerning content such as far-right conspiracy theories and racism is often found," adding that it has decided to look at the way the U.S. presidential election was handled on the 5th.

"X is a toxic media platform and owner Elon Musk has been able to use his influence to form political discourse," the Guardian noted. It also explained that

X users can continue to share Guardian articles on X, and that there will be times when the media's news live page shows X posts from other people or organizations.

Our journalists can also continue to use X for news collection purposes.

The BBC said, "Musk and the Guardian are far from politically oriented, so it is not surprising that this newspaper responds to the closer relationship between Trump and Musk."

The Guardian has been asking readers to donate because it is a media without billionaire owners, and the BBC said it received more than $1.8 million (W2.53 billion) in daily fundraising the day after the U.S. presidential election.

"They're an extremely unpleasant propaganda machine," Musk wrote in the comments, as one commenter shared a post criticizing the Guardian for its suspension of using X.
