When the People's Power announced that it would start the process of nominating candidates for the appointment of a special inspector in the presidential office, the Democratic Party responded negatively, saying it was not a fundamental measure to solve the problem of First Lady Kim Gun-hee.

Senior spokesman Cho Seung-rae told reporters at the National Assembly that the special inspector is responsible for inspecting criminal charges and handing them over to investigative agencies, and that Kim's allegations are already subject to investigation, not inspection.

He then reiterated that it does not make sense to inspect the subject of the investigation and that various suspicions surrounding Kim cannot be sorted out by a special inspector.
