Zelensky contacts Scholz ahead of Putin-Scholz call
Trump names Ukraine peace envoy soon
Donald Trump, who wants to quickly end the war in Ukraine, which has even sent North Korean troops, has been elected president of the United States, making moves for the warring parties busy.
Russian President Putin has been in contact with Western leaders, including the German prime minister, and Trump plans to nominate a "special envoy for peace in Ukraine" soon, drawing attention to whether a ceasefire will be established.

Russian President Putin, who did not respond much immediately after the confirmation of the U.S. presidential election, turned positive within a day.
He said in public that he was ready to talk to President-elect Trump, congratulating him on his victory in the presidential election.
Putin spoke with German Chancellor Scholz for the first time in two years to exchange views on the situation in Ukraine.
Reuters said Scholz had made it clear that the deployment of the North Korean front line was a serious act of escalating tensions.
In response, Putin said that any ceasefire agreement should be in line with the new territorial reality and Russia's national interests, which is believed to have led to uncomfortable talks between the two sides.

Following his recent attendance at the BRICS summit, Putin has continued his efforts to escape international isolation by communicating with Western countries one after another.
Conscious of these attempts, Ukrainian President Zelensky is engaged in a behind-the-scenes war of nerves, including contacting Scholz in advance to block the call between Putin and Scholz.

President Zelensky also expressed expectations that the war would end sooner if the Trump administration was launched.
In fact, Trump plans to nominate a high-level official as Ukraine's special envoy for peace soon.
As he has chosen the end of the war in Ukraine as his top priority, he is expected to work on preparations for the end of the war before taking office in January.
[Donald Trump / U.S. President-elect] We will work hard on Russia and Ukraine. It has to stop. Russia and Ukraine (war) must stop.]
Earlier, there were reports that Putin had already spoken to Trump, which Russia denied, but Trump said he could not confirm.
