The government has determined that Korea Zinc's precursor manufacturing technology is a core national technology.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has decided and notified Korea Zinc's application to recognize certain precursor manufacturing technology as a key national technology.

National core technologies are specially managed by the government as technologies that can adversely affect national security and national economic development if leaked abroad.

As a result, companies with national core technologies must be approved by the government before they can be acquired by foreign companies.

The decision is expected to be used as an argument to strengthen the cause for "protecting companies during the state" that Korea Zinc put forward against Youngpoong and MBK's attempts to take over management rights.
