The National Healthcare Industry Union, led by hospital workers, insisted that the National Assembly must pass five bills for correct medical reform within the year.

The "5 Correct Medical Reform Act" referred to by the Health and Medical Workers Union is the Special Act on Strengthening Essential Medical Care, the Act on Strengthening Public Medical Care, the Act on Establishing Public Medical Colleges, the Act on the Introduction of Local Agencies, and the Act on the Expansion and Support of Appropriate Medical Personnel.

The union said the passage of the bills to the National Assembly will be a touchstone to determine the success or failure of essential, local and public health care and to straighten up the distorted health care system.

He stressed that the ruling and opposition parties should not be separated in passing the National Assembly, nor should they question political interests or be swayed by some interest groups.

The union added that it will stage an all-out struggle by publicizing the need to pass the bill and announcing the results of public opinion polls and monitoring the bill review process so that the National Assembly can pass the "Medical Reform 5 Act" within this year.
