Even his cousin expressed concern over vaccine skepticism from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was tapped by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as health chief.

US ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy, daughter of former President John F. Kennedy, criticized Kennedy Jr.'s view of vaccination as "dangerous" in a speech to Canberra's National Press Club.

Kennedy, who is about to leave office, said Kennedy Jr.'s conspiracy-minded view of the vaccine is dangerous and he thinks most Americans don't agree with the claims.

"My family respects the medical community and has a different view than Kennedy Jr.," Kennedy said, pointing out Kennedy Jr."s father's 50 years of fighting for reasonable health care in the Senate during his lifetime.

Kennedy Jr. has long argued that "autism comes from vaccines" since he founded an anti-vaccine organization.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he called the COVID-19 vaccine "crime against humanity" and compared it to the Nazi Holocaust, arguing for vaccine conspiracy theories.

Trump has named Kennedy Jr., the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy and son of former Senator Robert F. Kennedy, as the second secretary of the administration's Department of Health and Human Services.
