It has been belatedly confirmed that the Board of Audit and Inspection requested the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to investigate four people, including former National Security Office chief Chung Eui-yong, at the end of last month in connection with allegations of deliberate delays in THAAD deployment during the Moon Jae In administration.

The Board of Audit and Inspection reportedly detected allegations of abuse of authority by former Chief of Staff Chung and other high-ranking diplomatic and security officials during the Moon Jae In administration during the public interest audit of the decision to deploy THAAD.

The Moon Jae In government has maintained that it must go through a general environmental impact assessment to formally deploy THAAD, so the related process has not been completed during his tenure.

In July last year, the Korea Defense Reserve Corps, a group of former military generals, requested a public interest audit, and three months later, the Board of Audit and Inspection launched an audit of 11 organizations, including the Blue House National Security Office and the Ministry of National Defense.
