The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced that it held a groundbreaking ceremony today at the Samcheok Marine Research Center in Gangwon Province for the test evaluation and education and training of the destroyer (KDDX) combat system.

Combat systems include sensors, armaments, and communication equipment. As a key equipment that integrates and operates navigation systems, the Navy is operating an Aegis destroyer that employs the U.S. Aegis combat system, which is considered the strongest combat system in existence.

As a result, the KDDX, the next Korean destroyer, will be equipped with a domestic combat system comparable to Aegis, which will be tested and verified at the land system integration test site.

The land system integration test site is about 6,700㎡ and will be completed in June next year and will begin operation in 2027.
