The Suwon District Prosecutors' Office has been searching the office of Song Ok-joo, a lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, for illegal donations during the last general election since this morning (19th).

Song is accused of visiting senior citizens' centers in his district with volunteer organizations at the end of last year and early this year ahead of the 22nd general election and donating electronic products several times.

Article 113 of the Public Official Election Act stipulates that lawmakers or those who want to become candidates cannot donate to institutions in the constituency.

In April, the Election Commission asked the police to investigate Song's donation.

The prosecution, which took over the case, handed over Song's accomplice to trial first and continues its investigation into Song.
