Howard Rutnick, who was pushed as Treasury Secretary by Elon Musk, who became Trump's closest aide, is expected to be nominated for Trump's second government commerce secretary, the Washington Post and others reported.

Howard Rutnick, CEO of Wall Street investment bank Kentor Pitt-Gerald, is expected to be nominated for commerce secretary, the newspaper said, citing unnamed sources.

Rutnick, who is also a co-chair of Trump's transition team, has been on the Treasury secretary's list until recently, and last week, Musk publicly supported Rutnick as the Treasury secretary, saying he could make a difference.

After Musk's expression of support, rumors of a "power struggle" within the transition team emerged, with reports that Trump is reviewing his Treasury secretary candidate.
