Russia's Ministry of Natural Resources said yesterday (19th) that it agreed to increase the number of chartered flights between the two sides after the 11th meeting of the Russia-North Korea Trade-Economy, Science and Technology Cooperation Committee in Pyongyang, North Korea.
Natural Resources Minister Aleksandr Kozlov explained the reason for the increase, saying that between January and September this year, more than 5,000 tourists visited both sides, of which more than 70% were by air.
Kozlov said he planned to organize direct flights from large cities as well as eastern Russia.
The Ministry of Natural Resources said North Korea is interested in attracting Russian tourists to the Samjiyeon ski resort and the resort in the Galma coastal area of Wonsan.
It also added that it has implemented an electronic visa system for North Koreans since last year and that tourists from North Korea will also be aware of Russian attractions.
