Ali and Temu, Chinese direct purchase platforms used by 10 million Koreans, have been caught by the Fair Trade Commission for operating ridiculous consumer terms and conditions.

There are about 40 terms and conditions in question, and some were even absurd.

The Chinese direct purchase platform has been the number one in the country since last year, beating the U.S. platform.

Ali has 9.04 million monthly active users and Temu has 6.79 million.

However, after a series of problems such as the leakage of harmful goods and personal information, the Fair Trade Commission began reviewing the terms and conditions of use, the standard for transactions with consumers, in May.

The two companies, which expanded their business in Korea but had only English terms and conditions, quickly created Korean terms and conditions.

As a result of the examination, there were many provisions that both companies would not be responsible for the cause.

In order to avoid any case, we have listed the types of damages that are hard to think of, such as 'indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive'.

Not only did it allow consumers to hand over their personal information to a third party at will, but it also violated consumers' copyright to social media content.

In the event of a legal problem, it is required to file a lawsuit with a court in Hong Kong or Singapore.

The Fair Trade Commission has detected and fixed 47 unfair terms and conditions.

Nearly 2,000 items have been blocked from sale over the past half year since the two companies signed a safety-related voluntary agreement with the FTC.

As various discount events and demand are expected to gather for the end of the year, the FTC urged caution in trading.
