For the 20th year in a row, the UN General Assembly's Human Rights Commission has adopted a resolution on North Korea's human rights and condemned North Korea's human rights violations.

In particular, this is the first time that the U.N. resolution on North Korean human rights has included concerns about North Korea's "two hostile state regulations" and calls for the abolition of the "three major evil laws."

the three committees responsible for human rights issues under the United Nations General Assembly,

For the 20th year in a row, we have adopted a resolution on North Korean human rights condemning North Korea's human rights violations.

The North Korean human rights resolution, co-proposed by 61 countries, including South Korea, was adopted by consensus without a vote.

In particular, the 3rd Committee expressed concern about the negative impact of North Korea's "two hostile state regulations" on human rights that it will no longer pursue unification.

It also demanded that the so-called "three major evil laws," such as the North's Reaction Thought and Culture Defeat Act, deprive the North of freedom of thought, and that they should be abolished or reformed.

[Kim Sang-jin / U.N. Ambassador: The reality is well known that there is no freedom of expression, which is severely punished for watching or distributing Korean dramas after the three major evil laws]It is the first time that the UN resolution on North Korea's human rights has included concerns about the 'hostile relationship between two countries'

and calls for the abolition of three bills called the 'three major evil laws'.

In response, North Korea strongly opposed the document, calling it a false document ordered by the United States.

[Kim Sung / North Korean Ambassador to the United Nations: Condemn documents written as part of a political conspiracy to undermine North Korea's dignity and completely deny its ideology and system.]

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a welcome comment and evaluated that "the international community expressed concern about the serious human rights situation in North Korea and sent a united message calling for improvement."

The approved resolution will be presented to the plenary session of the U.N. General Assembly next month and will be finally adopted.

Although the UN General Assembly resolution is not binding under international law, it has a political and moral obligation to respect it because it contains the united demands of the international community.
